Fractional consulting

You've outgrown how you work.
That's fixable.

I'm Lauren Stead. Principal program manager and RevOps operator with 15 years building operational systems at scaling tech companies. I come in, assess what's broken, build the fix, and hand it off. Clean scope. No retainer.

I specialize in Salesforce architecture, cross-functional program delivery, and revenue operations infrastructure. I work with companies between 20 and 150 people that have a real operations problem and need senior judgment to solve it.

Background

Systems design expert.
Not a generalist.

Currently driving IPO readiness infrastructure at AlphaSense, including a company-wide user management overhaul coordinated across engineering, legal, finance, and sales. Before that, I built the engineering operating system at Splitero from zero and ran product and operations work at Sundae.

Before tech, I was a Mission Manager at the NSA, coordinating intelligence and cybersecurity operations across national branches, and a Cryptologic Technician Interpreter in the US Navy. I've worked in environments where precision is the minimum standard.

Deep Salesforce expertise including CPQ. Salesforce Admin certification in progress.

How it works

Three phases.
Clear scope. Clean exit.

Every engagement follows the same structure. Assess, build, exit. No ongoing retainer. No managing execution indefinitely. I solve the problem and hand it off to your team.

01
Assess
Map current state across systems, people, and process. Identify what's broken and what needs to be built.
02
Build
Design and drive implementation. Write specs, manage engineers, own delivery through to completion.
03
Exit
Document, train, and hand off. The work belongs to your team. No dependency on me to keep it running.
01

Assess

I start with a diagnostic. I map your current state across systems, people, and process. I identify what's broken, what's missing, and what's being held together with workarounds. You get a written assessment with prioritized recommendations before anything is built.

02

Build

Based on what we find, I design and drive implementation. This could be a Salesforce architecture overhaul, a cross-functional workflow, an operational playbook, or a planning and reporting system. I write the specs, manage the engineers, and own delivery through to completion.

03

Exit

When the build is done, I document it, train whoever needs to run it, and leave. You are not dependent on me to keep it running. The work is yours.

Fit criteria

Who this is for, and what it isn't

I work best with companies that have a real operations problem and the clarity to engage on it directly.

Good fit
  • 20 to 150 person company in scaling mode
  • Operations problem at the core, not a headcount problem
  • No internal headcount or expertise to solve it cleanly
  • Want senior judgment, not a team with a presentation
  • Ready to make decisions and move fast
  • Salesforce is part of the stack or needs to be
Not a fit
  • Looking for ongoing program management support
  • Want a team of analysts or delivery staff
  • Need someone to manage execution indefinitely
  • Scope is undefined and budget is exploratory
  • Looking for strategy without a build component
Insights

Frameworks, how-tos, and positions on how operations actually works.

No thought leadership. No filler. Every piece shows how something works, walks through a process, or takes a clear position on something most ops teams get wrong.

Systems and planning

Prioritization frameworks, quarterly planning structures, and project templates built for ops teams that need to move fast without losing integrity.

Build before you build

Discovery, design, and stakeholder alignment before a single line of code is written. Why most implementations fail before they start.

Tools, data, automation

Stacking tools intentionally. Using AI in operations. Clean data as the infrastructure everything else depends on.

Let's talk about what you're dealing with.

If you think there's a fit, send a short note. What you're building, where you're stuck, and what you need. I'll tell you whether I can help.

On pricing

No packages. Scoped to what needs to happen.

I don't publish rates. Engagements are priced based on scope, not a packaged tier. Most projects run six to twelve weeks depending on complexity. Initial conversations are no cost and no obligation.

If we're a fit, I'll give you a clear scope of work and a fixed price before anything starts. No hourly billing. No scope creep.

What to include

Make the first email useful

The best first messages are short and specific. What's the problem you're trying to solve, how long has it been a problem, and what have you already tried. That's enough to know whether a conversation makes sense.
